You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to live with a family for six months and look after their six- year-old child. Write a letter to the parents. In your letter - Explain why you would like the job - give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ - say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia

Hi Sir, I am writing
this
letter to draw your attention towards an advertisement posted by you in one of the Australian Magazine for accommodation, and take responsibility for your child. I am excited to apply for
this
job
.
Firstly
, to apply for
this
job
, I would like to mention that I love children too much.
Due to
this
behavioural trait, I did a Nanny course four years back from one of the recognised colleges in
Australia
.
Subsequently
, I had two years of experience in a daycare academy too within
Australia
. Unfortunately,
due to
some emergency in my back home, I left the
job
. But now, I'm coming back to
Australia
, on the 5th of the next month.
This
job
really works for me as living space is
also
provided by you, so it would escape me from the botheration of finding out rental space outside
while
moving to
Australia
.
Furthermore
, my relevant experience in the childcare field would really be benefitted to you and your family. To know about my behaviour at work, you can contact my previous employer Ms Rozy D'Souza Day Care Facility, contact no. 662-115-1000, or email [email protected] And my employment details are Lisa Liberty (employee ID 7264411). I will be looking forward to your positive response at the earliest. Yours Sincerely, Lisa.

The Greeting

Depending on the style and aim of the letter, you will need to adapt your greeting.

Always start an informal letter in the ways:

  • Dear + name
  • Hi / Hello + name

‘Dear...’ is more appropriate, so stick with this.

For a formal letter there are two options for the greeting:

  • Use Dear Sir or Madam if you don’t know the name of the person you are writing to.
  • Use Dear + surname if you do know their name, e.g. Dear Mr Smith or Dear Mrs Jones.
