MODERN CHILDREN ARE SUFFERING FROM THE DISEASE THAT WERE ONCE CONSIDERED BEING MEANT FOR ADULTS ONLY. WHAT ARE THE CAUSES AND WHAT SOLUTIONS CAN BE OFFERED

These days more and more
children
are facing threatening heart disease and high blood pressure as the result of
obesity
. While
obesity
was once not prevalent in
children
, it is now.
Therefore
,
this
essay will highlight some of the causes of
obesity
in
children
and provide insights to prevent it. One of the main reasons for
obesity
in
children
is an unhealthy diet. Nowadays,
children
like to consume junk foods
such
as hamburgers, pizzas, noodles, ice creams, etc. As we all know,
this
type of food is full of saturated fats and added sugar. Those nutrients are proven to be dangerous if ingested too much. In order to reduce the unhealthy nutrient intake, parents need to take
this
matter into their hands. They are to limit the number of junk food their
children
have. Other than unhealthy diets, reduced physical activity
also
contributes to
obesity
in
children
. In the past,
children
used to play outside a lot, they were more engaged in physical activities than modern
children
. These days,
however
,
children
do not play outside that much. They prefer to stay at home playing video games or watching television.
Therefore
, their chance to get physically active is decreasing.
This
issue can again be resolved by parents’ involvement
such
as by encouraging their
children
to play outside to become more active. In summary, two factors that contribute to the rising prevalence of
obesity
in
children
are unhealthy diets and lack of physical activity.
This
issue can be overcome by making
children
change their eating habits and exercise more.
