You recently stayed in a hotel in a large city. The weather was very unusual for the time of year and the heating / cooling system in the hotel was quite inadequate. Write a letter to the manager of the hotel. In your letter: give details of what went wrong explain what you had to do to overcome the problem at the time say what action you would like the manager to take

Dear Sir or Madam Manager, I am writing
this
letter to draw your attention to a serious problem I faced during my stay in your
hotel
last
week. Let me start by providing some details about the occurred. Considering the time of the year, which is Autumn, I would assume that the
hotel
is prepared for any unnormal weather conditions,
such
as extremely colder temperatures.
However
, what I and other clients went through were rooms and
hotel
facilities with no adequate heating system. As to actions made to overcome
this
issue, we had to void other areas of the
hotel
rather than our rooms and cover ourselves with more clothes. To have a proper sleep, two additional blankets were provided, which was quite efficient to keep us warm,
although
it was very uncomfortable to sleep with all that weight on us.
Finally
, I would appreciate it if the
hotel
initiates an inspection of the heating system to avoid any
further
problems in severe winter, as well as a formal apology from the
hotel
owner to all the clients staying at the
hotel
during that period. I looking forward to a response regarding
this
issue. Yours faithfully, Christina Smith

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
